The main tasks of the vessel are patrolling the territorial waters borders and search and rescue operations. The vessels are designed to operate in all weather conditions. The vessels are also suited for OILREC operations. For assisting duties concerning oil pollution there is the possibility of fitting oil-boom equipment. The vessel is fitted with FiFi water monitors with a range of 100 meters. The vessels have an integrated rib boat launch system with a 7,4-meter Boomeranger patrol RIB and an optional 8-meter Springer FRC that can be fitted on the foredeck for long-time standby guard duty operations the ships can operate in DP standby mode only utilising the retractable azimuth thruster with very low fuel consumption.
